Why did I create this page?

I made this web site as part of my Girl Scout Gold Award project, which is the highest leadership and service award sponsored by the Girl Scouts of America. My project is intended to raise awareness about environmental concerns. Although we hear about pollution and global warming on television and the radio, we too often disregard the value of individual steps to prevent environmental degradation. Sometimes, it seems that environmental change is best effected through legislation or global action. Each of us, however, has the power to improve our environment by making slight changes to our daily routine. Decreasing the number of products we throw away, minimizing our carbon dioxide emissions, and cutting down on pollution are quick, simple ways to help our environment. By doing this, we make the world a better place for both us and our descendants. I trust that my site has successfully introduced you to innovative ways to help our planet; I hope that you have been motivated to take action.
