Reducing Carbon Emissions

R Reduce the amount of gasoline you use.

R Bike, walk, or carpool. If you live in a city, take public transportation.

R Drive a car with a high mileage per gallon.

R Take the roof rack off or your car, and reduce the amount of weight your car carries.

R Don't take a separate trip for each of your errands: do them all together.

R Go to local stores, or shop online.

R Save electricity.

R Buy Energy Star appliances.

R Turn off appliances, lights, etc. when you aren't using them.

R Likewise, don't leave your computer, DVD player, etc. on standby: turn them off when they aren't in use.

R Turn down your thermostat in the winter; turn it up in the summer.

R Dry your laundry outside rather than using a dryer.

R Put in fluorescent lights instead of incandescent bulbs. They use less energy and last longer than the regular bulbs.

R Another option is the use of solar energy, which doesn't release pollution into the atmosphere.

R Replace damaged doors and windows, or plug holes to prevent heat loss.

R Plant trees. Trees and other plants absorb the carbon dioxide already in the air.
